sampler for the gaps

I really love the way stitching at this density completely alters the feel of the fabric. Much used baby muslin cloth has very little aesthetic pleasure within itself, this stitching which is on my trial sampler for  decorating the eges of the garment, gives it some gravitas at least.


As the embroidered memories fill up the rest of the garment,

I'm thinking about the gaps between these embroideries. It will be impossible to see the right way to finish the garment, until all eighteen images are complete, and they've been annotated. I've done ten so far.  I've left a gap on the bum for a list which I suppose would refer to numbers by the images or descriptions of the position, ie. lower left leg front. This somehow seems better than a description underneath each one, reminiscent of a sketch from a cafe gallery wall.
If when the edging is done, the garment isn't complete, I will need to put in some embroidery for the gaps, for the time/thinking time that separates each memory and also the thoughts that have joined them together to make the dream house.

Having done the coloured version, it did occur to me that all the embroidery other than the memories could be highly coloured.
